About Living in Canggu
Canggu has grown from a sleepy rice-field village into one of Bali’s busiest rental markets, but it still keeps the easygoing rhythm that makes people stay longer than planned. The area stretches across Batu Bolong, Berawa, and Pererenan, each with its own feel. Batu Bolong is the most central, with a dense cluster of cafés, gyms, boutiques, and beach access near Batu Bolong Beach. Berawa leans a little more polished, with popular spots around Jalan Pantai Berawa, Finns Beach Club, and the shortcut roads leading toward Seminyak. Pererenan feels more relaxed and spacious, with quieter lanes, newer villas, and a closer connection to the rice fields and surf breaks near Echo Beach. For monthly renters, Canggu works especially well because daily life is so easy to organize. You can get groceries at Pepito, grab a flat white at one of the many cafés on Jalan Pantai Batu Bolong, work from coworking spaces, and reach the beach in a few minutes by scooter. The area is also strong for fitness and wellness, with yoga studios, reformer pilates, padel courts, and training gyms all nearby. At the same time, traffic can be heavy on the main roads, especially around sunset and on weekends, so choosing the right lane or neighborhood makes a big difference. If you want a rental base with strong amenities, a social atmosphere, and a huge choice of long-stay properties, Canggu remains one of Bali’s most practical monthly rental areas.
