Tentang Tinggal di Padang Bai
Padang Bai feels very different from Bali’s busier south coast. This is a working harbor town in Karangasem, known for the ferry terminal to Lombok and the Gili Islands, calm residential lanes, and easy access to some of the east coast’s best snorkeling and diving. Around the main port area, you’ll find local warungs, small homestays, dive shops, and simple convenience stores rather than the big-cafe scene you’d see in Canggu or Ubud. The rhythm here is slower, shaped by ferry schedules, fishing boats, and the daily life of a small Balinese community. For long-term living, Padang Bai appeals to people who value sea access and a quieter atmosphere over nightlife. Blue Lagoon is one of the area’s biggest draws, with clear water and reef life close to shore, while Bias Tugel Beach offers a more tucked-away beach experience just a short walk or scooter ride from the harbor. The streets around Jalan Silayukti and the lanes leading inland are where you’ll usually find more residential stays, often with a more local feel and better privacy than the waterfront. Because Padang Bai is compact, you can get around easily on foot or by scooter. That makes it practical for monthly renters who want a simple base near the port, diving operators, and beaches without needing to drive far for everyday errands. It’s especially well suited to people who are comfortable with a quieter, more functional coastal town rather than a polished resort area.
