Munduk sits high in the mountains of North Bali, where the air is noticeably cooler than the island’s southern coast and the landscape is dominated by clove trees, coffee gardens, and misty ridgelines. The village is known for its waterfall trails, including Munduk Waterfall, Melanting Waterfall, and Red Coral Waterfall, which are all part of what makes the area feel more like a nature base than a typical Bali rental hub. Daily life here is centered around the main road through the village, with small warungs, local shops, and family-run guesthouses spread along the slopes. For long-term renters, Munduk offers a very different pace from Canggu or Ubud. It is quieter, more rural, and better suited to people who value fresh air, privacy, and scenic walks over nightlife or convenience. The road from Bedugul toward Singaraja passes nearby, making the area a practical stop for exploring North Bali, Lake Buyan, and Lake Tamblingan. Cafes and restaurants are fewer than in southern Bali, but many offer wide valley views and simple, hearty meals. Internet quality can vary by property, so long-term tenants should always check connectivity before committing. Munduk is especially appealing if you want to wake up to mountain views, spend weekends hiking to waterfalls, and live in a community where neighbors still know each other. It is not the easiest place for everyone, but for the right renter, it can be one of Bali’s most rewarding long-term bases.
